Life today demands an escape from the routine and what better way than to spend precious moments at Lal Mahal Palace. The Palace was the hunting lodge and a forest retreat of the erstwhile rulers of Jaipur.
Maharaja "Sawai Madho Singh ji" initiated the construction of this Palace at the end of 18th century.
Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh (1881-1922), G.C.S.I., G.C.V.O., was born in 1861 and succeeded the throne in 1882, he was distinguished as a Ruler for his enlightened administration. He was one of the princes who visited England at the time of King Edward VII's coronation in 1902. It was he who started and endowed a donation of Rs. 15 lakhs, afterwards increased to 20 lakhs, for the Indian Peoples Famine Fund.
